  • You have probably read other studies that prove waking up earlier can make you more successful in life. Maybe you've tried waking up at a certain schedule but were unable to stick to it. We can't say if this is recommended for everyone but the most highly efficient people in the world wake up before 6:00am. Waking up early is simply put one of the keys to success.



    Below you will find 7 ways to help you stick to a consistent schedule of waking up earlier.

    1 ) Go to sleep no later than 10:00 pm

    I know. It sounds so simple but it really is. If you notice it is getting pretty late, stop what you are doing, wind down, and go to sleep. Just lay there until you go to sleep with your eyes closed. Going to sleep at a set time will help you develop a schedule that is consistent and sustainable.

    2 ) Set an alarm

    Waking up earlier is a pattern that you have to develop. Set an alarm on you phone and make sure your phone is not in bed. If fact, keep your phone as far away from your bed so that it forces you to get out of the bed. So many people have a hard time waking up early because they are on their devices in their bed. This leads to the next point.



    3 ) Don't use your phone in bed

    Keep your phones, computers, and tablets away from where you sleep. When you are going to sleep, you shouldn't keep anything around you from keeping you up. It can be temping to check how many likes your Instagram photo got or check to see you received a facebook message. Put Do not Disturb on your devices and go to sleep. If it's an emergency then you can set a feature on your phone to notify you if they call twice. Your sleep is important and 99.9 percent of the notifications you receive can wait until the morning. By not using your phone in bed, you are creating a new and healthy habit that will help you get to sleep and wake up earlier. 



    4 ) Avoid Coffee

    Drinking too much coffee can cause you to be more inefficient and less productive throughout the day. This may not be what you want to hear but try not drinking it for a week, while waking up earlier, and see if see if you are more or less productive. If you can't give up coffee then make sure you hydrate yourself by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

    5 ) Remove your snooze button

    Don't do it! A snooze button will set you for failure. A snooze button and having your phone close to your bed is a recipe for disaster. It cause you to stay in bed longer when you should be getting up and starting your day. Just say no to the snooze.



    6 ) Make your bed

    After you place two feet on the ground, make your bed as soon as you get up. Not only are there a variety of reasons why you should make your bedbut one is that it reduces the temptation to climb back in. Plus, doesn't it feel awesome to come home to a tidy bed instead of a messy bed? YES, it does!



    7 ) Be thankful for waking up
